Rules

  1. Time Control: Each player has a total of 20 minutes to complete the entire game. This means that both players must complete all their moves within the given time.

  2. Clocks: Each player must use the provided chess clock or timer to keep track of their time. The clock is set at the beginning of the game with 20 minutes for each player. Each player's clock starts simultaneously, and it counts up to 20 minutes.

  3. Move Time: Players must make their moves within the allocated time. However, since the total time is limited, there is no specific increment or additional time added after each move.

  4. Exceeding Time: If a player exceeds their 20 minutes before completing the game, they lose the game. It's important to manage your time wisely and complete your moves within the given time limit.

  5. Touch-Move Rule: Once a player releases a piece, the move is considered final.

  6. Illegal Moves: If a player makes an illegal move, the opponent has the right to claim it. The position is reset to the position before the illegal move was made, and the player who made the illegal move must make a legal move with the same piece.

  7. Piece Promotion: When a pawn reaches the opposite end of the board, it can be promoted to any other piece, except another pawn or king. The promotion should be made before the player's hand leaves the piece.

  8. Check and Checkmate: Check and checkmate rules remain the same as in standard chess. If a player's king is in check, they must move their king out of check, block the check, or capture the checking piece. If a player's king is checkmated, they lose the game.

  9. Draw: The rules for draw by stalemate, threefold repetition, or insufficient material apply in this format as well. If a draw occurs, the game ends as a draw.
